The high land consists of 48% of the total area of kerala and 600 mtrs. to 2500 mtrs. high from the sea level. The total area comes to 18653 sq. km. The sahia mountain extends from Thapthi river in the north to cape comorin in south. Anamudi the highest peak in western ghats is in kerala which is the highest in south india. Kerala is blessed with 44 rivers and out of it 41 rivers flow to west and 3 rivers flow to east. All rivers originated from the sahia mountain are almost rich in water.

Punnamada
one of the leading tourist destinations in the world, situated in the northeast area of Alappuzha, the venice of the east – stretching on either side of Punnamada kayal, also known as Vembanad lake, is a god’s given place well received and appreciated by the tourists all over the world.

Snake boat race, the only sport item, rowing a boat with 80 to 100 sportsmen, is the major attraction here. The event was originated by pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India. Sports Authority of India’s presence make this kayal more lively with Canoeing, Kayaking etc. . World famous sports stars were rose up from here.

Here fresh water fishes like karimeen and kayal prowns, kuttanadan ducks are very much influenced and wanted by the tourist. Shikari boats are another attractions for couples and honeymoon makers.
